How to gain entry to Perth Modern School
All students who enrol at Perth Modern School must first complete an entrance examination. The entrance examination is conducted by the Gifted and Talented Education Branch of the Department of Education and Training. Only students who have permanent resident status in Australia are eligible to sit for the examination.
Students are accepted into Year 8 and Years 10 and 11. If vacancies occur students may also be accepted into Year 9.
Application Forms for the entrance examination are available from the Gifted and Talented Education Unit at the Department of Education and Training. Contact them by telephoning (08) 9264 5513 or email gate@det.wa.edu.au. Forms and information booklets may also be downloaded from the Department of Education and Training’s website www.det.wa.edu.au/education/giftal/index/htm . Applications for Year 8 entry in 2008 have now closed. Applications for entry into Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2009 close on the 9th of May 2008.

Applications for entry into Year 8 in 2010 are now open. Applications close on Friday 1st August 2008. The entrance examination for 2010 entry will be held this year.
